What everyone needs to know about having a successful kitchen tea party.

Do you want to impress your guests and make the kitchen tea a real success? With just a little bit of organising and some attention to detail here are some ideas to get your creative juices going. What is a kitchen tea you may well ask?

Kitchen Tea:

A specialised type of wedding shower is the kitchen tea. This has predominately remained a female-only occasion and involves guests giving gifts for the kitchen, as it still remains, even today to a large extent, as the woman’s domain.

There are, however, many things that are changing, and remember there really are no hard and fast rules, so make your own decision on what suits you best. You may even choose, as many already are, to have a bathroom or bedroom shower where gifts are given specifically relating to these rooms.

Here are some ideas to inspire you.

  • To add a special touch go op shopping and pick up enough tea cups for all your guests. Then with some tea bags cut off the paper tag and using scrap booking paper or other decorative paper, cut small squares using the paper square tag you cut off as a template. Staple the new decorative tag in place. You could tie in the tags with your colour scheme. When setting these up on your table be sure to put a place card beside saying something like please choose a pretty tea cup and write your name on the tag and take home as reminder of today.
  • Make an apron or you could buy one with a plain design. Have a laundry marker near by and have guests sign the apron then get the maid of honor or brides maid to present it to the bride to be.
  • Have a special journal where guests can share with the bride to be, recipes, verses ,poems or advice.
  • and lastly, what is a kitchen tea without the popular wedding dress toilet paper game. Have your guest divide into teams, each team needs to choose one person to be the bride and make a wedding dress using toilet paper. The timer is set and the race is on.

As I was surfing for more ideas I came across this great site with many more great games
